The Catholic Deaf Apostolate is based at the Mariannhill Monastery. It is a little church for the Deaf, and seems to be the first Catholic Church in Southern Africa for the Deaf with a Deaf Priest. People attend this Parish from as far as Pietermaritzburg, Pinetown, Umlazi  and also from many other townships in KwaZulu Natal.

The wood workshop is filled with history, and is well known for producing handmade carpentry. From candle holders, altars, bishop chairs, pews and lots more. Work is done for any religion from Catholic, Anglican and Hindu. Run by the Brothers of Mariannhill Monastery along with a small team of staff. The vision of the workshop is to generate income, produce the necessary goods for the community, training and job creation.

Established in 1882 by the founder of the Congregation of Mariannhill Missionaries, Abbot Francis Pfanner, Mariannhill Mission. The Press has the enviable distinction of being the largest and longest serving Catholic Press in South Africa.
